The virtual aquarium

VIRTUAL AQUARIUM is an animated film made in stop motion (frame by frame) by the director Louise Mercadier, following creative workshops she proposed to patients of 3 European hospitals. It is in the orthopedic department that the idea of the virtual aquarium was born, in resonance with the tropical aquarium that was in the waiting room. The project was conceived by analogy to the experiment carried out on Aquariotherapy in the hospital environment, which demonstrated its impact on pain reduction. During the workshops, the patients created with the artist marine figurines, octopus, jellyfish, rays...using all kinds of materials, driftwood, modeling clay, shells, pebbles... The artist then animated these figurines, to make an animated film in which the creations of the patients and those of the artist, in a joyful and colorful ballet, with shimmering reflections and calm and soothing sounds of water. The aquarium can thus travel from room to room for the pleasure and relaxation of the patients.
